The BBC is to pay considerable damages to Ukraine’s president over false allegations he authorised a corrupt payment to arrange talks with Donald Trump. Petro Poroshenko took legal action after the broadcaster wrongly claimed Michael Cohen, the US president’s former personal lawyer, received a $400,000 (£305,00 payment to help secure "substantial talks" with the US president.

British presenter sues Arnie

A British television presenter who alleges she was molested by Arnold Schwarzenegger is to sue him for libel over his claim that she encouraged the incident. Anna Richardson claimed the 56-year- old Terminator star touched her breast as she tried to interview him at the Dorchester Hotel in December 2000 about his film The Sixth Day for her London Weekend Television show Big Screen.
